If you’re the witness to a crime and you’re actually a physical witness, many people don’t want to get involved.  There are several anonymous ways that you can get involved without giving your personal information.  Here locally in the Big Bend area in Tallahassee in Leon County, we have what’s called Big Ben Crime Stoppers.  It’s a toll-free number, it’s anonymous, you can contact them and they’ll take the information and it will be used to assist law enforcement.  Moreover if you do want to get involved, you can always contact your local law enforcement agency and make them aware and ask them to come out and take a report or take a report over the phone, and make sure you keep that report number to make sure there is a reference to the issue that you brought to their attention.   It’s always good to be a good citizen and prevent other people from being hurt or criminalized in any situation.  Now that sounds strange coming from a criminal defense attorney, but I’m here to tell you that nobody deserves to be a victim of a crime.
